Abram Marshall Scott (1785 – July 12, 1833) was a Democratic Mississippi politician born in South Carolina (Edgefield County). He was an early settler of Wilkinson County, Mississippi and was instrumental in founding the town of Woodville, Mississippi. He held a number of local political offices there before his election to the senate. He served in the state senate in 1822 and 1826–1827. In 1832, he was sworn in as seventh Governor of Mississippi and served until his death by cholera on July 12, 1833. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Jackson, Mississippi. Charles Lynch succeeded him in office. Scott County, Mississippi is named in his honor. ==External links==
